Hinkley Point C - Launch of the Invert Formwork

It has been completed the launch of the first machine for the Hinkley Point C project.

The project consists in the construction of three tunnels under the seabed that will supply the two reactors at Hinkley Point C with cooling water and then discharge it back into the Bristol Channel.

KERN Tunneltechnik supplied tunnel formworks for the construction of the Outfall Galleries.
No.2 Crown formworks and No.2 Invert formworks have been designed with a modular system which allows to change the length of the blocks to comply with the tight radius of the tunnel.
