Project information: Balfour Beatty is delivering one of the most complex marine engineering projects currently taking place in the world to support the construction of the first new nuclear power station built in the UK in more than 20 years.
The project consists in the construction of three tunnels under the seabed that will supply the two reactors at Hinkley Point C with cooling water and then discharge it back into the Bristol Channel.
Supplied equipments: KERN Tunneltechnik supplied tunnel formworks for the construction of the Outfall Galleries.
No.1 Crown formwork and No.2 Invert formworks have been designed with a modular system which allows to change the length of the blocks to comply with the tight radius of the tunnel.
Additional formwork and material has been supplied for the construction of the IT2 tunnels.
